Hylebos Volunteers
Description of the importance of Friends of the Hylebos volunteers, who they are, what they do for the Hylebos
Friends of the Hylebos is a volunteer organization. Volunteers get work done, endorse the organization with their participation, and give the Friends its soul. Volunteers do a bit of everything for us, including planting native vegetation and removing invasive vegetation, monitoring water quality and recording salmon returns, maintaining the West Hylebos Wetlands boardwalk, and providing office assistance and event support.
Friends volunteers contribute about 10% of the restoration labor of the organization. From the period 1999-2006, more than 1,100 volunteers participated in habitat restoration, contributing more than 5,000 hours of labor, worth an estimated $96,365.
Below you'll find profiles of several volunteers who help the Friends conserve the Hylebos. Remember, if you want to get involved you can sign up for volunteer notices here, or contact Restoration Program Manager Lili Allala
