Friends Of The Hylebos Continue

The Battle Against Ivy

Since January of this year, The Friends of the Hylebos and volunteers have saved over 200 trees and have cleared over 50,000 square feet of forest floor from invasive English Ivy.  Help continue this ongoing battle against English Ivy’s stranglehold on Federal Way’s forests by volunteering Victory Over Ivyat Dumas Bay Park on February 20.

English Ivy is an invasive non-native plant that is taking over our forests. Ivy grows rapidly forming thick carpets across the forest floor blanketing trees and other vegetation. Ivy takes away native habitat for wildlife and encourages the presence of unwanted rodents. Come help restore Federal Way’s forests to an ivy free state
