The following is from Sara Southerland, outreach coordinator with Project Porchlight, a non profit that partners with Puget Sound Energy to distribute free energy saving light bulbs in the Puget Sound area.

In the coming months, we will be distributing 275,000 FREE energy-saving compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs to residents in PSE’s residential electric service area all over the Puget Sound. That will amount to a reduction in pollution equal to taking 2,700 cars off the road!

We're building up to a big event at the Federal Way Lowes on September 26-27 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. where any Puget Sound Energy customer can trade in up to 10 old fashioned light bulbs for 10 energy-saving light bulbs for free!

We need community members help to spread the word about this fantastic opportunity!

This campaign is all about neighbors talking to neighbors. We strive to tip awareness into action by making simple steps accessible to all people and communities. Community members are really what makes this project possible and successful-- helping your neighbors save money and energy, and helping to ensure clean air for future generations (less coal being burned!) Can you help at one of our events?

How you can help:

1.  Community blitz at Sacajawea Park: You get a free t-shirt, snacks, and we do a short orientation, then we all go out in pairs throughout the neighborhood, to pass out free energy saving light bulbs in the community!

Date:   Mon. September 21, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Sacajawea Park-- we need more community support!

2. Rock the Bulb event put on by PSE at the Federal Way Lowes. It's a fun, carnival-like atmosphere where community members can bring in 10 incandescent bulbs and trade them for 10 free energy efficient compact florescent light bulbs!

We need volunteers to run booths, registration tables, etc. each day These are a lot of fun, everyone gets a t-shirt and free lunch!
