East Hylebos Stowe Preservation
Description of the Friends' completed preservation project of the Stowe Property
Working with the city of Milton, the Friends identified the 6-acre Stowe Property on the east branch of Hylebos Creek as a priority acquisition. With willing sellers, the city asked the Friends to help them prepare an application to the Pierce Conservation Futures Fund.
Recognizing the importance of the habitat to be preserved, Pierce Conservation Futures purchased the property in 2006 and then transferred the holding to the city of Milton to permanently preserve as open space habitat.
The Stowe Property contains stream, wetland and upland habitat that will likely be the subject of future restoration activities. The property also includes the Interurban Trail the city of Milton is developing.
