Hylebos Wetland Protects Salmon

The West Hylebos Wetlands form the ecological cornerstone of Hylebos Creek, home to endangered Chinook salmon as well as coho and chum salmon and cutthroat trout.  The West Hylebos Wetlands moderates winter floods, protects water quality and provides rearing habitat for baby salmon.

Two tributaries of Hylebos Creek flow beneath the park's boardwalk.  Ifyou're lucky, you may even see baby coho salmon hiding in the watery shadows, a reminder that you're seeing nature's salmon support system in action.
